This morning Michael comes bouncing down the stairs, gives me a kiss on the cheek and says, “I’m going for a walk.”
He doesn’t even ask me to join him. I don’t even say, “Wait, I want to come with you.”
We both have eyes. We both can see my morning disarray. We both know it will take me longer then ten minutes to become presentable. So, I watch his back as he exits this old house through the back door.
When he returns almost an hour later, I stand over his shoulder and look at the sights he has seen while exploring on his own. I think I either need to be speedier in my getting-ready-mode or always be ready, before I even have my first cup of coffee in the morning.
Sigh…
