The Wimberley Cafe is a Wimberley icon, with its daily specials, bright primary colors, oil cloth table coverings, and happy, well-fed clientele. Locals and visitors alike flock to and through its welcoming door.
Breakfast
Sitting here in the early morning, drinking coffee with friends, chatting about nothing important, planning our day, I know there isn’t anything that could be better than being here at this moment, on this day at this time.
During any given weekend, long lines form inside and out the door onto the covered patio at the Wimberley Cafe. Visitors and locals alike are all here because they want to be able to have a country breakfast in a country cafe in a charming country town. However, locals in the know wait until the middle of the week –Tuesday through Thursday — to have the best bargain breakfast this side of I35; two golden brown plate-sized pancakes with two eggs fixed your way for just $3.99!
However, today I go for the savory, loving their bacon so much and thinking hash browns and perfectly cooked, eggs over medium are such wonderful partners, I have to close my heart to the sweet temptation of griddle cakes. Next time, I tell myself, I’ll succumb to their sweet maple syrup temptation.
Also available on their breakfast menu are omelets–cheese, meat, vegetable, green chile or a combination, and because it is Texas, you can also find huevos rancheros, migas and breakfast tacos. Michael always succumbs to the lure of biscuits and gravy, while many others gravitate to French toast, oatmeal, fruit, and cereal; if the kid in you really needs it, you can add chocolate chips to your pancakes.
It is good honest simple food at honest and fair prices.
